Compassion That Reaches the Hospital Bedside!
Illness often comes with more than physical pain. For many families, it also brings financial strain, uncertainty, and the emotional burden of prolonged hospital stays.
Recognising these realities, the North East Development Commission (NEDC), in partnership with Debbie Kauna Foundation (DKF), carried out a humanitarian outreach at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), Yola, providing food and essential non-food items to patients receiving treatment.
The intervention reflected a shared commitment to supporting vulnerable people during some of life’s most difficult moments, ensuring that compassion reaches beyond medical care.
The outreach formed part of NEDC’s broader humanitarian mandate to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable populations across the North-East.
Working alongside hospital management, Debbie Kauna Foundation supported the transparent coordination and distribution of relief materials to patients across various wards, ensuring assistance reached those who needed it most.
Beyond the items distributed, the initiative served as a reminder that recovery is strengthened when communities, institutions, and development partners stand together in solidarity.
