Supporting Those Who Support Inclusive Education

Inclusive education is about more than classrooms, curricula, or infrastructure. It is sustained by the dedication of teachers, caregivers, and support staff who work tirelessly to ensure that children with disabilities receive quality education in safe and supportive learning environments.

Recognizing this, Debbie Kauna Foundation (DKF), in partnership with the North East Development Commission (NEDC), implemented a welfare support activity for staff of Jada Special School under the Support for Inclusive Education Initiative.

Held on 23 June 2026, the intervention sought to strengthen the wellbeing of those who play a vital role in delivering inclusive education while reinforcing partnerships that promote educational opportunities for children with disabilities across Adamawa State.

A Partnership Built on Listening

The intervention followed engagements and assessments conducted within the school community, where the welfare needs of teachers and support personnel were identified as an important area requiring attention.

Working together, Debbie Kauna Foundation and the North East Development Commission responded with a welfare intervention aimed at recognizing the dedication of both academic and non-teaching staff who continue to serve learners with disabilities despite existing challenges.

Beyond the distribution itself, the activity represented a shared commitment to strengthening the people who make inclusive education possible every day.

Opening Ceremony

The programme commenced with remarks from the Executive Director of Debbie Kauna Foundation, Mrs. Deborah Birdling Bubwa, who expressed appreciation to NEDC for its continued investment in inclusive education.

She acknowledged the commitment and resilience of teachers, support staff, and caregivers at Jada Special School, emphasizing that their daily efforts remain central to improving educational outcomes for children with disabilities.

She further encouraged beneficiaries to continue their remarkable service while making good use of the welfare support provided.

Supporting educators is an investment in inclusive education.

Teachers and support staff are the foundation upon which children with disabilities build confidence, acquire knowledge, and prepare for independent living. By improving staff welfare, institutions become better equipped to provide quality education and care for every learner.

The initiative also strengthened collaboration between NEDC, Debbie Kauna Foundation, and Jada Special School while reinforcing stakeholder confidence in collective efforts to advance inclusive education across the North-East.

Debbie Kauna Foundation remains committed to building partnerships that improve educational outcomes for children with disabilities.

Through strategic collaboration with government institutions, development partners, and local communities, the Foundation continues to champion initiatives that strengthen inclusive education, promote dignity, and ensure that no child is left behind.

We sincerely appreciate the North East Development Commission for its continued partnership and commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities across Adamawa State and beyond.
